About the Role
We are seeking a multidisciplinary Robotics Systems, Electrical & Communications Engineer to help architect, integrate, and test the electronic systems at the heart of our robotic platforms.
You’ll work across traditional engineering boundaries—connecting requirements, electronics, power, sensors, embedded computing, communications, antennas, software, and mechanical hardware into a functioning system.
This position is contingent upon successful SBIR or other government contract award.
What You’ll Do
- Develop system architectures, requirements, interfaces, and engineering trade studies.
- Design and integrate electrical power, computing, sensing, and communications architectures.
- Select and integrate processors, sensors, radios, antennas, batteries, power electronics, and other components.
- Develop wiring diagrams, interface documentation, and electrical schematics.
- Support PCB and custom electronics development where appropriate.
- Develop communications architectures for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-ground connectivity.
- Evaluate RF performance, communications range, bandwidth, latency, interference, and link reliability.
- Integrate navigation and positioning sensors.
- Perform power, link-budget, and system-performance analyses.
- Develop system-level verification and validation approaches.
- Conduct bench, ground, environmental, and field testing.
- Troubleshoot complex problems spanning hardware, software, communications, and mechanical interfaces.
- Help develop system architecture and technical roadmaps for future products.
We’re Looking For
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of electrical systems, embedded computing, sensors, and communications.
- Strong systems-thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience integrating multiple hardware and software components into a working system.
- Ability to document architectures, interfaces, requirements, and test results.
- Comfortable working directly with test equipment and prototype hardware.
Experience with RF systems, antennas, Wi-Fi, cellular, mesh networking, GNSS, embedded Linux, microcontrollers, PCB design, power systems, cybersecurity, systems engineering, UAVs, or robotics is a plus.
Who Will Thrive Here
This role is ideal for someone who naturally asks, “How does the whole system work?”
We’re looking for an engineer who can move between a system architecture diagram, an electrical schematic, a communications link analysis, a software interface, and a prototype on the workbench.
Experience gained through student engineering teams, research laboratories, internships, personal projects, or military service is just as interesting to us as traditional industry experience.
As an early member of the engineering team, you’ll have substantial influence over the electrical and systems architecture of our first products.
Important: This is a contingent position. Selection does not constitute a guarantee of employment. Hiring and the anticipated start date depend upon successful contract or SBIR award and availability of program funding.
